Up for sale is this famous vintage Pocket Bass made by Valco for Montgomery Ward’s Airline guitar line. In addition to the guitar-like-short 25” scale, this unusual model has an incredible piezo pickup built into the bridge, and a punchy magnetic pickup in the neck position. The piezo provides an almost accoustic sound that when blended with the neck pickup produces some truely unique and desirable sounds. The bass is in excellent condition with only minor scatches and dings that you would expect from a 50 year old instrument. The input jack, pots and wiring have been replaced and I even added a master volume knob to add to the existing tone and pickup blend pots. I also replaced the tuning pegs with mini Gotos since the originals were of very poor quality. This little bass sounds great, and it is as versatile as it is rare. If you are looking for something that is vintage and supro-cool, but also very playable.
