1970 Les Paul Deluxe Gold Top
Up for sale is a 1970 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Gold Top. As you can tell by the pictures the guitar is not 100% original. I purchased this guitar over a year ago from a gentleman who bought it 16 years ago from Songbird music, so unfortunately its exact 42 year history is completely unknown.
The guitar has cream coloured P90’s installed (I have no idea which P90’s as there are no identifying marks to be 100%, however after cross referencing some pictures online they do look like 1960's Gibson's) A Bigsby has also been added, kinda gives it that 1953 Les Paul vibe. There are no cracks or repairs anywhere on the guitar. The body has some north/south “finish checking” which does not show well at all in the photos but it’s pretty evident in person. There is the usual “buckle rash” on the back and you can see the “pancake line” on the body. Basically in my opinion it looks exactly the way a 42 year old Gold Top should. So if you are looking for a shiny immaculate guitar that has sat in a case under a bed for 40 years…I would pass….this guitar could tell some stories I’m sure!
The most important thing is the guitar sings!!….Very Creamy P90 cleans, add some Overdrive and you get that classic raw rock n' roll sound. I love this guitar I really do but I have way too many and this one is not getting the attention she deserves.
$2250
