1960's KALAMAZOO KG-1 Electric Guitar

This quirky guitar was made in 1960's in the Gibson Factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan (where some of the best guitars were made). Kalamazoo was Gibson student line during the 1960s and they made numerous models of this guitar and bass which is strikingly similar to a Fender Mustang. It features an amazing, thin neck made of Brazilian Rosewood: it has a great feel, supremely fast and has a maple back and aluminum tuners. The candy red body is made of MDF (medium-density fibreboard) which is basically plywood heated together to make a solid piece. Although unconventional, it is extremely resonant. There are some chips in the nitrocellulose finish and by the looks of it the second owner tried to install a bigsby. There is one single coil pickup that has a very dynamic tone range. Overall this guitar needs a bit of TLC but it would make a great Christmas present to a avid guitar collector or a beginner! It plays great, but all vintage guitars need tune ups!
